A woman carries her daughter, wrapped in a golden fabric covered in blue flowers. She is carrying the sage she has picked in a basket. Behind her, the mountains stand tall with the lights of the aurora dancing in the sky.  I named my daughter Aurora, after the spirits of our ancestors.

The text behind is an affidavit for my fourth great-grandfather. He was a Metis man, as is proved by his scrip. This paper shows that we are related to Cuthbert Grant, my sixth great grandfather, a famous Metis figure. He is known as one of the fathers of the Metis nation.
