A newly postpartum woman carries her baby through the night. She wears the classic mesh underwear that all mothers know. Her body is still raw from the intense experience of birth. Behind her blue flowers fall from her and sprout in the ground as the moon shines down.
I didn't know what a sacred time those early weeks are. Though they certainly don't feel sacred. They feel raw, intense, exhausting and emotional.
The image is on a letter from a scrip application. Her presence had been requested to go over her application (and deny her). This letter is them writing back to say she cannot come. I imagine her life and how busy she may have been caring for her children, and possibly with a new baby.
