Queen’s Cup is a tiny lily, the size of a loonie, that lives in temperate rainforests. In the case of this specific lily, it bloomed in the Ancient Forest a few years ago, just long enough for Erin to take a photo. Vibrant green Lady Ferns surrounded the flower in a gentle little cocoon. A tiny beetle is climbing down the stamen of the flower, a reminder of the tiny ecosystem at play.
The rich, vibrant greens of spring are erupting in this dramatic yet peaceful painting. These tiny flowers turn into metallic blue berries that feed the grouse of the forest; gentle reminder that the small things that we don’t even notice play a big role in the ecosystem.
