A pregnant woman stands connected to the ancient roots of the cedar trees which inhabit the inland rainforest. The trees communicate with her and whisper sacred instructions for she is carrying the next generation.
The painting is on my ancestors scrip application papers. They are telling the woman that her application will be denied (because she is "too Indian" which was stated on another document). These documents help me piece together my family story.
This is taken from my maternity photos, which were shot in the Ancient Forest (Chun T'oh Whudujut).
