A man casually stands next to a buffalo, overlooking a small group of tipis while a storm goes past. After my family left Red River, with a whole group of other Metis families, they settled in Willow Bunch in southern Saskatchewan. They followed the buffalo, as their whole lifestyle revolved around the buffalo hunt.
This man is my 5th great grandfather, Zachary Piche. He was known as a kind, helpful, generous and hardworking man. I found the reference photo for this painting on the walls of a museum in the small town of Willow Bunch.
The fifth painting in my collection, Otipemisewak.
